picnic in the park

One of the many things I love about our home is its proximity to the park. We can walk there in 3 minutes. Yes, exactly three minutes. We've timed it. Living that close means we go there often. In the summertime, almost every day.

Its a fairly good sized park, with a rose garden, swimming pool, baseball, and bocce ball courts in addition to the playground. The frequency of our visits here require us to come up with new ideas about what we can "do" at the park that day.

On this particular day we decided to have a picnic and do some chalk drawing. The boys chose a menu of popcorn and lemonade. And of course little Leo wanted to pick flowers. So we did.

Leo has the oddest habit right now of picking at chalk and crayons with his fingernails. He loves it so. At the end of the day, if he's fingernails have grown long, they are rainbow colored underneath.
